Web Directions South is just around the corner. From the 23-26th September there’ll be more web love than you could ever hope for delivered via workshops, presentations and, of course, social events.
While there are going to be a whole bunch of social events held in association with Web Directions South, here is the current list of must-dos…

WEDNESDAY 24TH

Port 80 Drinks
Every year at Web Directions South, the West Aussies make their way to the east coast to join in the festivities. With Western Australia providing some of our most promising web startups, it’s definitely worth popping into their event for a drink. This year they’ll be hosted by Kay of Clever Starfish and Gary of Radharc at the Harlequin Inn (CNR of Harris and Union St in Pyrmont) from 6.30.

THURSDAY 25TH

Web Directions South Opening Drinks
Thursday afternoon finishes up with a much anticipated session from August de los Reyes of Microsoft, the awarding of the McFarlane Prize for excellence in Australian web design and then the Opening Night drinks, from 5.30 to 7.00. These will be at the conference venue, just upstairs in the Bayside Terrace.
WebJam
The all new Webjam 8 will happen at Bar Broadway on September 25, right after the Web Directions South opening night drinks. If you haven’t been to a Webjam before, this will be a fun action packed night when 15 or so people have 3 minutes each to impress the crowd with something cool they have done recently. Be sure to RSVP at the Webjam site.
AussieTUB
Web Directions is a great opportunity to actually meet all those people you follow on Twitter and get to know them on a richer deeper level way beyond the virtual. If you’re not into the WebJam scene, then head along to the Sydney Twitter meetup directly after the opening drinks. From 7.00 at the Pontoon Bar in Darling Harbour. Full Facebook invite here.

FRIDAY 26TH

Closing night party + win an ipod touch
The closing night party is always big and this time is no different. This year it’s over two big floors, from 5.30 till late, at the Shelbourne Hotel, with Cameron Adams and Lucas Chan providing the beats. If you’d booked a flight out of town on the Friday night, change it
On top of the that there’s now an extra reason to go - the chance to win an iPod touch (OK, so it’s only an 8GB, but as my grandmother used to say - it’s better than a kick up the arse, right?)
All you need to do is whip up a design for the drinks tickets that will be using on the night. You can check out the brief and submit your design at the 99designs site.
Make sure you’re quick though the competition ends this Friday at lunch time.

If you hear of any more events around Web Directions let us know and we’ll get the word out.
Look forward to seeing you all at as many of these events as possible. Oh yeah, I’ll be wearing jeans and a t-shirt. Try not to copy my outift, yeah?
