And They’re Off And Racing At Startup Camp Melbourne…
October 4, 2008 4:24 pmThis weekend it’s Melbourne’s turn to go through the highs and lows of a startup weekend, and the teams have already been formed, ideas worked out and development started.
Last night at 6pm, 20 people walked through the Baroquian facade of the Kisla Interactive studio in Fitzroy and set about meeting and greeting.
Not long after 3 teams were formed, 2 of 6 and 1 of 7 and by 8:30pm all 20 people gave 20 idea pitches.
At around 10pm the ideas were finalised and 3 new aussie startups were formed - MarketBeagle, Bit of Pluck and iSportster.
You can feel like you’re there by heading over to the official site (there’s a uStream feed, plus a twitter backchannel following the #sucm tag and you can also see preliminary idea pitches).
To be honest though, teams are deep in development mode so there’s nothing super exciting happening. Actually having been through the recent Sydney startup camp there’s probably a lot of exciting stuff happening from the teams’ perspectives but it’s somewhat chaotic and hard to follow.
The next big thing is at 8pm Melbourne time tonight where teams will actually be pitching their startups. Definitely try to check that one out - and make sure you tell your friends as well.
So the startups…what are they all about? Let’s hear in their own words…
