StartupCamp Sydney II, 16-18 January - Latest Updates
January 14, 2009 2:41 pmAfter the great successes that were Startup Camp Sydney and Startup Camp Melbourne, Startup Camp Sydney II is on this weekend.
You can get all the details HERE but the key info is:
- When: Friday night (16th) at 6pm until Sunday 2pm (18th)
- Where: Australian Technology Park
For those unfamiliar with the event, a group of people get in a room and over the course of a weekend come up with tech startup ideas, create them, launch them, then pitch them to VCs. Having been part of the first Sydney event I can say that until you’ve taken part you can’t fully understand how valuable the event is.
I spoke with Mr StartupCamp - Bart Jellema - about plans for the event and he gave me the latest updates
The Investor Panel
The Investor Panel for Sunday has been confirmed and will be made up of some of Australia’s top VCs:
- Allan Aaron (Technology Venture Partners)
- Bill Bartee (Southern Cross Venture Partners)
- Andrew Stead (ATP Innovations)
This is a great (and rare) opportunity to put yourself and your talents in front of 3 guys of this calibre in one go, so take advantage.
Coverage
In addition to Australia’s favourite tech startup blog Editor, Kim Heras from TechNation Australia :P, the following people will be attending the launch event on Saturday evening:
- Kristen Le Mesurier (Fairfax Innovator Blog)
- Renai LeMay (ZDNet Bootstrappr Blog)
- Ross Dawson (Thought Leader in the tech space)
In addition to that the event always gets really good global coverage, so there might be some additional surprises
The Auction
Different this camp is how they will deal with equity: Every team member gets an equal share in their project and at the end of the weekend each project will go on auction for 3 weeks and will be sold to the highest bidder.

There are still a few places remaining but that won’t be the case for very long, so jump onto the site and sign up ASAP.
I promise you, you’ll get a huge amount out of it.
