GrowthTown 1 - A Quick Update

1:26 pm

Just a quick update post on GrowthTown, the new event for entrepreneurs who have started and want to grow better businesses, which was on last night in Sydney.

You can read more about GrowthTown in an earlier TNA post or on the actual site.

The night was a great success. I’d say around 60-70 people showed up and the event kicked off at 6 as promised. I got there 5 minutes late but I managed to catch the tail-end of Mike Nicholls’ talk on planning. Very simple, yet powerful advice. After a short break David Jones gave a detailed presentation on considerations when entering the US market, with a good focus on “flipping up” (You can get a copy of his presentation HERE). Finally, everyone had an option of breaking out into smaller groups to speak about particular topics or just to go and have 1:1 chats around the room.

It was great to see so many familiar faces and to catch up with a few entrepreneurs who have been M.I.A for months while developing their own products and services. If I saw you and didn’t manage to say “Hi”, my apologies. I’ll definitely catch up with you next time.

All in all though the night was a huge success so if you’ve started and are trying to grow a business then make sure you get down to the next one, which I believe will be in a month.

A big thanks to Atlassian for hosting the event, all the speakers and organisers and, most importantly, everyone who showed up to support it. As usual, without community support these initiatives would go nowhere.
